Rhode Island Reprieve

I have once again been a bad blogger, remiss in my daily blogging duties. But, I took a much needed mini-break to visit my family in Rhode Island.

I caught some of the fall foliage action....

Checked out pops newest addition to the car collection...

Found my way out of the corn maze....

And visited my stepmom's store in progress, Cory Farms.....

Back to the grind........

Naturally

Dear Los Angeles,

This is what you're doing Saturday night.

One of my favorite people ever, Cali, has a solo show opening at Family this Saturday from 7-10. And....then there's the music, provided by Secret Circuit. Super bummed I am not in L.A. this weekend. I expect a full report back peeps!

The sun is out....

at least, for now. I feel stuck within the confines of schedules and timing. Don't get me wrong. It's great that my life is actually as full as it is, but I am drowning in the fullness.

Last night, I had a much needed and brief reprieve, in the form of an hour and a half of laughing at poop, vomit, dicks, and injuries. Yes, I saw Jackass 3D. And, it was just what I needed.

Back to the grind......
(Best Coast and Franz Schubert on repeat...yeah I know.)

Prop Tragedies

My very talented friend, Jennifer Krasinski, has written a special limited edition book out on Wrath of Dynasty. It features 12 stories in 12 pages and hand-drawn covers by Jon Leon. You can buy yourself a copy here. But do it now, this edition will only be available until October 22nd! And, really you should read more. I cannot wait to get my copy.

Join the conversation.

Awhile back, I received an Ask Erin! question about polyamorous relationships, to which I responded with my opinion on the subject. Last week, I got an email from a blog reader who wanted to give me her pro-polyamory viewpoint. So, let me have them. Email me. I am super curious to read what you think, especially if you are or have been in such a relationship.

The good and the bad....

One of the things that sucks about being a parent is getting up at 6 AM to get your 7 year old up and off to school on time. One of the things that rules about being a parent is when said 7 year old wakes up in a good mood and decides that No Age's Glitter is the "song of the day," sparking an impromptu 6:30 AM bedside dance party. Yup, that about sums it up.

Ruth Asawa Appreciation Day

Ruth Asawa is rad. I especially love her tied and crotched wire sculptures. She grew up in Japanese internment camps and spent a lot of time and energy bringing art instruction to kids. She's pretty awesome in my humble opinion.

Holy Shizzzzzzzzz

The new Die Antwoord video for Evil Boy.... It's so confusing....it just might be brilliant. That rat coat is my biggest nightmare!!! (and FYIsers.....not kid or work friendly)

File this one under questionable parenting.

Atticus, my 7 year old offspring, told me that he is writing  a song....for Lil Wayne.....to celebrate his upcoming release from prison. Is it wrong to be proud? The song is about what it was like for Weezy in prison. One of the lines is..."Gotta get out of this damn place." He also informed me that he wants to sing it to Wayne, in person. So.....perhaps a casserole party/serenade?

We were very sad to hear about Weezy's solitary confinement, for having an iPod. This news was reported to me by mother. (She secretly like Lil Wayne too, but don't tell anybody.)

And for all the haters... despite being locked up, his album still debuted at #2 last week. So, suck it.

Brenda Ann Kenneally

Last month, I was introduced to the work of Brenda Ann Kenneally. (thank you ben) To say that I am impressed by what she does would be a gross understatement. She has spent her career as a documentarian (and activist) of people who would otherwise be forgotten. Her work is moving and important. Take some time out of your week to check out her projects.

The Raw File

Big Trigg

Money Power Respect

....and her latest project Upstate Girls

We could all stand to be a little more aware. No?
